Lol @ Karen desperately trying to defuse the situation by asking to see the sketchbook while her friend gives David a look that could peel paint
Oh Davidddddd this is not how you make conversation in art class! He’s clearly a deeply troubled individual, but it’s interesting to see how he interacts with the world. In my experience my “futile attempts” at disciplining myself to get good at drawing are for helping myself not go freaking insane, but I don’t think that David has put much thought into this mindset other than backing up his reasons for not liking stuff. He would probably be on some of the weirder corners of Reddit if this story took place this year lmfao
I think it's like...a younger persons angsty twist on an interesting concept. Like the more you practice/hone a craft or process, the more you might like categorize and segment ideas/perspectivez into boxes - you might have a narrower perspective at the start and middle of learning & practicing.
But David has kinda the dour/angry young male teen view of all that.
haha i thought of r/showerthoughts and 4chan's /x/
the process of drawing frustrated me as a kid. but once i was able to render anime eyes in a way i liked it changed my life.
